Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the surname Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She dropped her debut EP with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The release date was May of 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music online in 2014, including her self-released single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out in July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's remark. Later in the period, she released music that circulated all over Dreamville. It was announced on December 8, that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She appeared on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance in support of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the track Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th July of this year. The first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream hit stores on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, the No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February in 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole for the Creed II sound track on November 16. The music video premiered on the 20th of February in conjunction with the song. Within the first week, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 times. In December 2018 the singer was a part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
